Garden Committee Member Recruitment 2021

The Moray Feu Wants You! Since the founding of the Feu in 1822, the Management Committee has been a group of volunteers elected by their fellow Feuars to oversee the care and improvement of our four Pleasure Grounds.  Now available are FOUR seats out of a maximum 11 committee members.

Nominations to be submitted between 26th May and 9th June. Please note, nominations before or after theses dates can not be accepted.  

TIME COMMITMENT • Length of service is three years, but the members may stand for re-election for two further terms. Quarterly meetings, currently online; normally at the Whitelaw Wells office in Ainslie Place.  Meetings take place on a weeknight evening• Attendance at the AGM, held each June.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee the implementation of annual and long-range plans.• Share oversight of budgets and actively participate in financial discussions.• Coordinate one or more functional areas; current vacancies are described below.• Collectively make decisions in partnership with the Committee members.• Be accountable for supporting in principle and in practice the regulations approved by the Feuars in general meeting and contained in the Feuars Handbook. The Committee is seeking members who are interested in the following areas: 

DOG OWNER’S CONVENOR Communicate with new dog owners to encourage registration; oversee regulations for dog owners; represent the interests of dog owners.

CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE’S CONVENOR Represent the interests of families with children; monitor play fixtures; organise events for families and children.

ENVIRONMENT CONVENOR Liaise with CEC and other community organisations on issues related to waste management, air and soil quality, conservation strategies, organise Earth Day and other “green” events.

SUPPORT to CONVENORS Flexible role on the committee. Responsibilities  would be allocated to work alongside a convenor who is in need of help at a given time, or cover for holiday and illness. 

We also encourage those with an interest in planning and supporting neighbourhood events to consider a nomination.
